Keynote speaker – Elaine Kempson, Emeritus Professor, University of Bristol
Elaine Kempson is a UK-based, internationally-known and respected authority on consumer financial issues. Much of her work looks at the consumer perspective, but she has also undertaken research into financial services provision and advice services for consumers.
At the Financial Capability Summit on Friday 3rd July, Elaine revealed more about her latest work and her thoughts on the most effective ways of helping people build their financial capability in her presentation ‘From Financial Literacy to Financial Capability: more than a semantic change.’ Here Elaine discussed how billions of dollars have been spent on financial literacy programmes, but are they working? What’s the most effective way of helping people change their behaviour?
