CFFC Summit videos: Elaine Kempson and Deborah BattellPosted to Financial Capability on 18-08-2015
Continuing our series of videos from our Financial Capability Summit, we have two more to share.
Elaine Kempson was our keynote speaker and captivated the audience with her thoughts on the most effective ways to help people change their behaviour.
Elaine is a UK-based, internationally-renowned, financial capability expert. She used her presentation to argue that financial capability was a more empowering term than the previously used financial literacy.
Financial capability recognises that behaviour is shaped by people’s beliefs, social norms and the environment in which they live. She described it as including day-to-day money management; choosing and using appropriate financial products; planning for future needs and informed decision-making.
Our second video features the former Banking Ombudsman Deborah Battell, who has recently moved on after six years in the role. She shared some of her experiences during her time as Ombudsman.
