New visual retirement village guidesPosted to Retirement Section on 01-05-2017
The Commission has released two new handy visual guides in response to growing demand in the retirement villages sector.
One was created to explain pathways to care for village residents.
Troy Churton, national manager retirement villages, said: "The Commission has received a growing number of enquiries from residents in villages confronting the costs of care for their partners or spouse suddenly needing full time care. It can be a stressful time understanding additional costs involved.
"We collaborated with Seniorline and Eldernet to refine the very complex area about residential care as simply as we could."
The Commission has also produced a flow chart to illustrate what happens if a retirement village unit is damaged.
"In almost every public event I present to intending residents, someone asks what happens if the village or their unit is damaged by an earthquake. The Code of Practice sets out a process which can be hard for some people to follow so we’ve refined it into a visual tool."
