Kura Relationship Manager

Position purpose

The Kura Relationship Manager is responsible for working proactively with Kura Māori and secondary schools that offer Māori Medium Education (MME), developing positive working relationships with senior leadership and teachers, and growing the number of kura and schools engaged with and using our Sorted in Schools, Te whai hua – kia ora programme.

The Kura Relationship Manager, while working as part of the CFFC Sorted in Schools Programme Team, plays an integral role (together with the Kaitakawaenga) in our Māori Medium workstream to ensure engagement, support, awareness and communication with Kura Māori, learners, their families/whānau, kura management, wider community groups and our stakeholders with the Sorted in Schools, Te whai hua – kia ora programme.

The Kura Relationship Manager will significantly expand our Kura Māori relationships through robust stakeholder engagement including developing strong partnerships critical in raising the awareness of Sorted in Schools within kura Māori with an end result of increased engagement by kura in the programme.

Key aspects/deliverables of the role include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to grow participation in the Sorted in Schools, Te whai hua – kia ora programme within kura Māori and secondary schools offering MME.
  • Developing and maintaining effective positive working relationships with senior leadership and teachers within kura Māori, secondary schools offering MME and key stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance and support to teachers and students on the most effective use of the Sorted in Schools, Te whai hua – kia ora programme and website.
  • Monitoring and reporting on programme usage and satisfaction, and contributing to our continuous improvement process.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Drive new, and build on existing, strong networks with Kura Māori to enhance participation and engagement with the programme.
  • Develop and implement a plan for reaching schools not yet actively engaged with the programme.
  • Support the CFFC Marketing & Content team to develop strategies that result in raising awareness of the programme within Kura Māori.
  • Develop and implement an engagement cycle with Kura Māori using the programme, to:
    • ensure they are supported and receive communication on a regular basis
    • identify opportunities to improve the programme and maintain continued
      satisfaction.
  • Attend key Kura and relevant Māori-focussed conferences, events and meetings to raise awareness of, and engagement with, the programme.
  • Develop and implement a toolkit that effectively supports school leadership and teachers to engage with the Sorted in Schools Te whai hua-kia ora programme.
  • Work alongside school leadership and teachers to support and guide the integration of the programme.
  • Deliver presentations/workshops on the programme at school leadership and teacher- focussed conferences and hui.
  • Work with the Sorted in Schools Team to develop and implement ways to improve the user experience and outcomes for students.
  • Develop, complete and continuously improve monthly reporting on programme uptake, usage, and satisfaction.
  • Work within legislative and organisational guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Support the Kaitakawaenga Māori – Sorted in Schools to ensure we create a culture where health and safety is paramount.
  • Continually assess and promote own safe working conditions.
  • Ensure any accidents, incidents and hazards are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Actively promote and support the health & safety policy and procedures.
  • Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

Skills and experience

  • Advanced level of oral and written proficiency in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga essential.
  • Relevant experience and ability to engage with secondary level tumuaki, kaiako and whānau from Kura Kaupapa Māori, Kura a Iwi, kura Māori and related stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship management and networking skills with established connections across kura networks and experience with forging new relationships.
  • Experience within the education sector (particularly within Māori medium) preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the needs of the kura, tumuaki, kaiako, students, and community.
  • Well versed in meeting with and presenting to groups and individuals.
  • Sound planning, monitoring and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to accomplish objectives effectively within a given timeframe and carry out administrative duties within a portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Capability with digital technologies.
  • Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
  • Willing to travel extensively to fulfil job requirements.
  • Willing to work on weekends on occasion to attend weekend events.
