Retirement village seminars


CFFC runs free seminars about living in retirement villages. These seminars are for intending retirement village residents and their families.

The seminars focus on things to consider before choosing to live in a retirement village, the personal, legal and financial implications of retirement village living, and practical tips before you sign up to live in a retirement village.

Speakers from CFFC (and sometimes guest speakers from the Retirement Villages Association and legal profession if available) discuss types of retirement village structure, costs and operations.

The seminars will also explain some important resident’s rights and where you can find out more information.

The seminars are 90 minutes long and include plenty of dedicated question and answer time throughout the event. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are typically provided for registered attendees.

Resident-only workshops


From time to time CFFC facilitates regional workshops for retirement village residents only. The workshops are held in a retirement village facility central to the region. They deliver information and provide a relaxed forum for residents to discuss issues directly with CFFC.

Since 2016 CFFC has held regional workshops in North Shore, Christchurch, Hamilton and Tauranga.

Seats are limited and registering to attend is essential.

CFFC is also regularly invited to present to interest groups about retirement village issues and other related retirement topics. We also conduct resident-only workshops a few times each year.

Annual stakeholder forum


CFFC holds a forum for retirement village stakeholders each year. The event brings together people from every sector of the industry, including operators, developers, retirement village managers, statutory supervisors, residents and more.

It provides an opportunity for diverse groups to share information and discuss topical issues in the retirement village industry.
